You will research and create an electronic portfolio platform - name it 2014-15 Portfolio, or Class of ???? (the year you will leave the MYP).
In this platform, you will create sub-pages for your introduction, your definitions of the NISC Vision in Action, and a sub-page for each of your curriculum areas.
For example:
1. Introduction,
2. NISC VIA (Vision in Action), and ATL's
3. Language and Literature
4. Math
5. Design
6. Science
7. The Arts
8. Physical Education
9. Language Acquisition
10. Individuals and Societies
In the “Introduction” page, you will include the following
1. An individual photo or original piece of art
2.A detailed paragraph titled “About Me” in which you introduce yourself
3. A list of your current curriculum areas/teachers
4. A list and description of your extra curricular activities
5. A list and description of your other interests and hobbies
The introduction can include other pictures to illustrate your participation in extra curricular activities or show some of your other interests.
On the NISC VIA page you should have a clear definition, in your own words, of each of the three areas of the NISC vision (That you are informed global citizens who:
1. Act on what inspires you;
2. Are ethical and respectful in your treatment of yourself, others and your environments;
3. Use thoughtful and compassionate consideration to take action.)
Each definition should consist of a paragraph showing your understanding, with specific examples.
You will choose an example of your best work from each subject area – this is your EVIDENCE. The work that you choose will be linked to the portfolio along with a reflection, the grading rubric, and any other documentation that you think you need to share with your parents and peers. This evidence will support your demonstration of your learning.
Samples of evidence may include, among other things: Essays/written pieces, reflections, photo journals, a reading log, participation in school activities and/or group projects, science lab reports, oral presentations, embedded video of YOU in action.
Once you have completed this process, you should practice your presentation skills in class/community time, or as homework, so that you are prepared for your presentation to your parent. You will have time during each semester to maintain and update your portfolio.
